Servo motor is also called AC servo motor, AC synchronous motor; Ordinary motor usually refers to AC asynchronous motor.

The main differences between precision servo motors are:

1. The difference between closed-loop feedback and open-loop state principle

The AC synchronous motor needs to feed back the speed, position or torque reference value to the supporting driver through the sensor and encoder at the rear end of the motor, and then the driver adjusts the drive current in real time to control the motor rotation according to the user specified value. The asynchronous DC stepping motor is usually directly driven by the frequency converter or voltage regulator and other devices, without dynamic adjustment to external interference factors such as excessive torque and overload, Therefore, the former is more effective, energy-saving and accurate than the latter.

2. Differences between synchronous and asynchronous structures

The structure of AC synchronous motor is stator coil+magnetic rotor. It needs to know the magnetic field transformed by the rotor through the synchronous signal of the feedback encoder to achieve accurate control. The structure of asynchronous motor is a star shaped or triangular structure of three-phase stator coil+rotor core. The purpose of rotation is achieved only by driving the voltage to control the set frequency value. The vector converter has no synchronous signal requirements because it is simple to adjust the displayed value, Therefore, it does not count as closed-loop feedback. Therefore, the former is more complex than the latter and cannot be disassembled and adjusted easily.

3. Difference between special and general

The former is limited by the encoder type and manufacturer. Generally, the matched drivers are not only differentiated according to the inertia and power, but also used for special machines according to the communication protocol. That is, a precision servo motor can only correspond to one driver, and different series and different powers cannot be connected accordingly. The AC asynchronous motor can usually be matched to a frequency converter with different powers, as long as the current does not exceed the higher speed. Therefore, servo also brings challenges to the maintenance industry. Generally, AC synchronous motors have high maintenance technology and high maintenance costs. It is not only necessary to build multiple servo test platforms of different types and powers, but also to accumulate a lot of experience.

It can be seen that the AC synchronous motor belongs to the adjusting motor, and the encoder is not vulnerable to impact, dust and vibration. Improper maintenance in the use process will also lead to various faults, which can not be handled by ordinary motor maintenance personnel.
